EDGEFIELD, S.C. — A South Carolina salon owner says a pizzeria here threatened to call police on her over an order of chicken wings she never ate. The restaurant says she’s a thief.
The customer, who posts on TikTok as Miyah Miyah, says it was her first visit to Mario’s Pizzeria on Main Street. The video she posted about it has passed 3 million views.
She ordered six buffalo wings, six sweet chili wings, and a salad with cheddar cheese. Told the kitchen was out of cheddar, she asked to drop the salad rather than swap cheeses.
The wings were the problem. Too big, too mushy, she says — she and her girlfriend left them untouched and told staff they didn’t want them. They offered to pay for their drinks.
A manager identified as Shelby and a male employee told them to pay for the food or the restaurant would call police, according to Miyah. She says the two of them stayed calm through the exchange, but staff called them “thugs,” accused them of theft, and claimed they’d caused trouble there before, despite it being their first time in the building. Other customers started pulling out phones to record. She says an employee followed her out shouting “thief” and “robber.”
Mario’s Pizzeria’s version, posted to Facebook and circulating alongside her video, calls her a “common thief” who ordered food and didn’t pay. She disputes that and says she never refused to pay for anything she actually ate. Restaurants deal with unhappy customers all the time, she said, and calling police wasn’t the only option.
Many commenters under the video focused on one word. “‘Thug’…. It’s giving racial profiling,” one wrote — a reaction echoed across dozens of replies. Others sided with the restaurant, arguing a kitchen that fills an order correctly shouldn’t have to eat the cost because a customer didn’t like how the food looked.
Mario’s Pizzeria is at 209 Main St. This account is based on the customer’s video and posts and a Facebook statement attributed to the restaurant. The claims have not been independently verified. The restaurant was not contacted for comment, and it remains unclear whether police responded.
