Roasted Figs with Dolcelatte

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 8-12 fresh figs
  • 4 tbsps. Marsala wine or orange juice
  • 125 g/4 oz. Dolcelatte cheese, cut into 8-12 small squares
  • orange segments, to decorate

 

Directions

Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4, 10 minutes before roasting the figs.

Lightly rinse the figs and make a cross at the top of each fig. Push gently to open the fruit slightly, then place in an ovenproof dish and pour over the Marsala wine or orange juice.

Roast in the oven for 3 minutes or until the figs are hot. Place the small pieces of cheese in the top of each fig. then return to the oven and cook for a further 2-3 minutes until the cheese is beginning to melt.

Arrange on four small serving plates, pouring the melted cheese and wine mixture over the figs. Decorate with the orange segments and serve.

(These figs can be served with a little salad as a starter or in place of the cheese course.)
